Thanks to everyone who faves!
Now, I don't quite have time to answer every message, so I'll try to answer some of the questions I've been asked here.
- I don't have any blueprints, I drew these out by eye and memory, and I probably won't have any until the final prototype.
- At the moment, this project's on halt because other things have become priority.
- I won't be selling any until I have a finished version, in whatever material.
- THIS PROTOTYPE IS NOT COMPLETE. I left out around eight pieces in order to get the basic mechanisms right.

:)

ALSO: It's officially named the Blazefire Sabre.

------------
Alright, at long last, here is the prototype for my model of the gunblade Lightning wields in Final Fantasy XIII. To make things easier for myself, I'm going to dub it Chimera for now.
It's rough, but it can support its own weight and is strong enough to be held as it is in the game.
It's around 3.5 feet long and as accurate as one can get with cardboard. There are approximately twenty moving pieces and many joints. It's fully articulated as the actual weapon and 'life-size'.

This is only a prototype designed so I can finalize my plans/blueprints for the ' proper' wooden model of the weapon, thus it isn't painted or made to look showy at all.

Materials:
:bulletred: Cardboard (Fridge box)
:bulletred: Cardboard (Cereal box)
:bulletred: Some sticky tape
:bulletred: Split pins

EDIT: Ignore the camera specs down the bottom there. My camera's time & date thing's messed up. I took these photos thismorning. >_>

Also if you need a strong but workable material use popler wood, I've used it for small scale weapons projects and it responds well to machine work like routers, lathes, and jig saws.

However you've managed to do this I should much appreciate the final product designs, It is my intention to create a transforming blade of my own out of metal.- Tempered steel, tensioned gears, the whole nine yards- I'd just apreciate your help. Of course im still in welding school so I wont be able to make it until next year. Very impressive

Hey, it has been awhile since this has been posted, so I was wondering if you had any plans for a tutorial or something like that anytime soon?

Not yet, unfortunately. I'm only now working on developing the second prototype, and I don't want to post up directions for it if it's not complete. x3
That'd be an incredibly long tutorial, though.

Well be sure to let me know when you do. Also, could you give me progress reports on the second prototype as you go along? Thanks. I would use that tutorial anyway.

I would, but it's moving pretty slow at the moment. So far all I've got of the second prototype is a loose layout that looks nothing like the finished piece. XD Knowing me, it could take another six months, or longer.
The pieces not included in this one are causing the delay, actually; I thought them optional at the time I made this, but further observation leads me to believe that they're actually vital.
You can see me supporting the thing in gun mode with my second hand, that's because it wasn't sitting properly. Due to something left out of the design.

Anyway, I'll try. :3 (Your best bet would probably be keeping an eye on my journal entries, though)

Really. Alright. That is right, you can't be leaving out pieces. I will, thanks.
